File manager

🚨 The file manager has been removed in version 1.8.0, as it was outdated and considered insecure. Until we have implemented a new solution, you may have to upload files the old-fashioned way ((S)FTP or similar).

Former documentation

The file manager is integrated into all visual editors that allow editing of text and layout (for example the Info and help page).

It is also available via the administration menu above the calendar (if logged in with appropriate status or privileges).

The file manager allows files (images, videos, documents, ...) to be uploaded to the webserver, be replaced, renamed, deleted or structured in directories. Images and documents can also be directly inserted into the editor.

Integration in the editor

To add images to your text, click the button Insert/edit image and click on the small folder-icon right next to the Source input field. This opens the file manager. Here you can choose an existing image or upload a new one.

To replace an image, click on it in the editor to select it and then proceed as described above.

To insert a document, first select the text in the editor that should link to your file. Then click Insert/edit link and click on the small folder-icon right next to the Url input field. This opens the file manager. Here you can choose an existing document or upload a new one.

To replace a document, click on its link in the editor to select it and then proceed as described above.

Images

Images will be automatically (server-side) resized if they are to big.

Very big images, like those uploaded directly from digital cameras without editing, can cause certain problems because of their file size and/or image dimensions. Uploading can take quite some time or even fail. The webserver might not be able to resize the image and/or generate thumbnail previews because the image processing might exceed available main memory.
